Prevention Tuesday: Codes of Gender

Contrary to popular belief, true sexual violence prevention does not consist of handing women whistles and hoping for the best. When we talk about primary prevention we mean that we are working to change the social norms and practices which reinforce rigid gender roles, victim-blame and condone violence. I found this great movie a couple years ago which explores the way we portray women in the media as submissive, seductive, and of course as objects of desire. Check it out!
