Can someone please help me with this??  So in case you didn’t know, ONE case of child pornography is too many.  There should be outrage.  People should be flooding the streets protesting this!  I mean, the Middle East is falling apart because people don’t have access to Facebook (I recognize this is a simplification, but bear with me, I feel passionately about this).  We have four men within a 50  mile radius that have accessed and/or created child porn.  These only the few that were caught!  How many more are there?  These are people who may or may not be sitting next to you in court, people who live two doors down, people who you have exchanged hand shakes….people who may have served you in the drive through or at your local supermarket!  I am not saying this to cause you to stop going out or stop shopping.  What I am saying is when are we going to make this impossible!  Child Pornography does not represent freedom of speech, or freedom of expression…or art!  Sorry folks…Not buying it.  Some how I don’t think that when they signed and ratified the constitution…

… I don’t think this is what they were thinking of…..

Children…abused…raped….molested….assaulted….damaged….victimized…..innocense stolen…  If you purchase, view, create or produce child pornography there IS something very wrong  and you should turn yourself in immediately!

Here is the law just in case you weren’t clear:

Under federal law (18 U.S.C. §2256), child pornography1 is defined as any visual depiction, including any photograph, film, video, picture, or computer or computer-generated image or picture, whether made or produced by electronic, mechanical, or other means, of sexually explicit conduct, where

  • the production of the visual depiction involves the use of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct; or
  • the visual depiction is a digital image, computer image, or computer-generated image that is, or is indistinguishable from, that of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct; or
  • the visual depiction has been created, adapted, or modified to appear that an identifiable minor is engaging in sexually explicit conduct.

Federal law (18 U.S.C. §1466A) also criminalizes knowingly producing, distributing, receiving, or possessing with intent to distribute, a visual depiction of any kind, including a drawing, cartoon, sculpture or painting, that

  • depicts a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct and is obscene, or
  • depicts an image that is, or appears to be, of a minor engaging in graphic bestiality, sadistic or masochistic abuse, or sexual intercourse, including genital-genital, oral-genital, anal-genital, or oral-anal, whether between persons of the same or opposite sex and such depiction lacks serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value.

Sexually explicit conduct is defined under federal law (18 U.S.C. §2256) as actual or simulated sexual intercourse (including genital-genital, oral-genital, anal-genital, or oral-anal, whether between persons of the same or opposite sex), bestiality, masturbation, sadistic or masochistic abuse, or lascivious exhibition of the genitals or pubic area of any person.

Who Produces Child Pornography?
Based on information provided by law enforcement to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children’s Child Victim Identification Program, more than half of the child victims were abused by someone who had legitimate access to them such as parents, other relatives, neighborhood/family friends, babysitters, and coaches. http://www.missingkids.com/missingkids/servlet/PageServlet?PageId=1504

Once this crap is on the internet, it can’t be taken back!  It goes into a vortex that can be repeatedly accessed!  Victimizing the child over and over and over and over.

We can stop this though…we can make it impossible for this informatin to be spread…

Next week my blog will focus a little bit on who is helping these victims and what kind of help is available and what you can do to help protect these kids and raise awareness… Until then…
