RCASA’s Wednesday Outreach: Upcoming Events

RCASA will have an informational  table at these events on Saturday September 18, 2010. Stop by and say hi!

King George County is sponsoring its first annual Volunteer Fair – this is a great opportunity for King George County citizens to learn more about local and regional organizations that are in need of volunteers.  There will be over 25 organizations in attendance, all seeking volunteers for their varied activities and programs.  These organizations include:

  • Fredericksburg Area Food Bank
  • Rappahannock Big Brothers/Big Sisters
  • Friends of the Smoot Library
  • Rappahannock Council Against Sexual Assault
  • Habitat for Humanity
  • Rappahannock Legal Services
  • King George Farmers Market
  • Rappahannock United Way
  • King George Animal Rescue League
  • USO of Metropolitan Washington

This is a free event with no cost to you. The event will be held Saturday, September 18, 2010 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the King George High School.

Growing Up Girl in Today’s Crazy World

The Women and Girls Fund is having a speaker on September 18th  talk to area mothers, fathers, grandparents, nonprofit agencies, and teachers. We hope you can join us.

Julia Taylor: www.juliavtaylor.com <http://www.juliavtaylor.com/>  – Julia Taylor will be addressing the main issues facing adolescent girls, relational aggression, and body image.  She will  also speak about societal factors including media literacy, pressure, and standards that leave girls feeling controlled and powerless, and ending with what we can do to help them. She will have a few short videos, a lot of resources and tips, and lastly will end with a Q & A.
